Teeth Whitening Strips: A Practical At-Home Guide
Share
Teeth-whitening strips offer a simple way to add whitening to your routine at home. They are thin, flexible strips coated with a whitening formulation and shaped for the upper and lower teeth.
Different strip products can use different whitening ingredients, so always check the formulation and follow the directions supplied with the product you buy.
How do teeth-whitening strips work?
The strip holds the whitening formulation against the front surface of the teeth for a set amount of time. A close fit helps the strip remain in contact with the teeth during use.
Individual results vary. Existing crowns, veneers, fillings and other dental restorations may not change colour in the same way as natural teeth.
What is included in a 28-strip pack?
Luxsmile's 28-strip products contain 14 individually sealed sachets. Each sachet contains two strips: one for the upper teeth and one for the lower teeth. That provides 14 complete treatments.
Are Luxsmile PAP whitening strips peroxide-free?
Yes. Luxsmile's current PAP strip products use PAP — Phthalimidoperoxycaproic Acid — rather than peroxide as the whitening ingredient.
For a fuller formulation comparison, read PAP Teeth Whitening vs Peroxide.
How to use Luxsmile PAP whitening strips
Always follow the directions supplied with your chosen product. For Luxsmile's current PAP whitening strips:
- Make sure your hands are clean, then open one sachet.
- Apply one strip to the upper teeth and one to the lower teeth, positioning the gel side against the teeth.
- Press the strips gently into place and fold any excess behind the teeth if needed.
- Leave them in place for 20–30 minutes, following the product directions.
- Remove and discard the strips, then rinse your mouth with water.
Do not exceed the stated treatment time or frequency, and do not combine whitening treatments in the same session.
Which Luxsmile strips should I choose?
PAP Whitening Strips — 28 Strips
Luxsmile PAP Whitening Strips are a peroxide-free option for customers who prefer a straightforward whitening-strip routine. The pack contains 28 strips, providing 14 upper-and-lower treatments.
PAP Colour Correcting Whitening Strips — 28 Strips
Luxsmile PAP Colour Correcting Whitening Strips combine a peroxide-free PAP formulation with purple colour-correcting pigments. Colour correction is a temporary optical effect that helps neutralise the appearance of yellow tones; it is distinct from bleaching.
Read our purple colour-correction guide to understand that difference.
Whitening strips vs LED kits
Strips place the formulation directly against the teeth using flexible material. LED kits use whitening gel with a mouthpiece containing LED lights. The better choice depends on the routine and formulation you prefer, not simply the product format.
Compare them in our at-home teeth-whitening options guide or read the dedicated LED whitening guide.
Can whitening strips cause sensitivity?
Some people may experience temporary tooth sensitivity or gum irritation when using whitening products. A peroxide-free strip may suit customers who specifically want to avoid peroxide, but this does not guarantee that sensitivity will never occur.
If you already have sensitive teeth, read Teeth Whitening and Sensitive Teeth before starting a routine.
Safety and suitability
Stop using the product if irritation is significant or persistent. If you have sensitive teeth, gum problems, dental work or uncertainty about whitening, ask a dentist before use.
Luxsmile whitening products are intended for adults aged 18 and over and are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Read the full Product Safety guidance before starting a whitening routine.
